My name is Agnes, but most people call me Aggie. That’s also a nickname for someone who studies agriculture. My last name was Blum, from the German blom or blume, meaning flower.
So here I am in suburban Washington D.C. trying to grow fruits, flowers and vegetables. Go figure.
I am a wife, mom, writer, enthusiastic gardener and somewhat reluctant suburbanite.
I like to grow my own veggies, sew my kids dresses and knit my own gloves.
I love my local library system, even though it only lets me check out 50 books at a time.
I am a DIY-nut. My husband wishes my passion for finishing projects was equalled by my passion for starting them. Working on that.
Used to cover crime and stuff for newspapers. Don’t see that happening again.
I like finding treasures on the side of the road, repurposing objects and making things.
